A federal judge has been asked to settle seniority lists among 4,000 pilots brought together by the merger of US Airways and America West. The carrier filed its legal action on Monday, arguing that the pilots' failure to negotiate a seniority list has made it impossible to implement a combined contract that covers both groups. "We don't want to take sides, but we absolutely do need a seniority list," says a US Airways executive. "This was the best approach that we could find."
