Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport is set to begin using a "surface management system" designed to let officials know the exact location of every aircraft on the ground. Airport Operations Director Paul Meyer says the transponder-based system promises much greater efficiency than the old system, where operators "looked out the window" to see where planes were located.
